What To Expect
Starting counselling doesn’t need to feel overwhelming.
For many people, reaching out is the hardest part.
You may be wondering:
“What do I say?”
“Will it feel awkward?”
“How do I know if counselling is right for me?”
These are completely normal questions.
My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
Your First Session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other.
We’ll talk about:
What has brought you to counselling
What would you like support with
Any questions or concerns you may have
What you hope to gain from counselling
There is no pressure to share everything straight away.
We will work at a pace that feels right for you.
Your Counselling Journey Starts Here. Every counselling journey is unique.
From your first conversation onwards, you’ll be welcomed into a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can explore whatever is on your mind.
FAQs
-
Every session is different because every person is different.
Some sessions may focus on current challenges.
Others may explore past experiences, emotions or relationships.
Sometimes you may arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about.
Other times you may not.
Both are completely okay.
-
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling.
What we discuss remains private and confidential, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions which will be explained during our work together.
-
There is no set number.
Some people benefit from short-term counselling, whilst others prefer longer-term support.
We will regularly review how things are progressing and decide together what feels right.
-
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
You simply need somewhere to start.
If you’d like to discuss counselling or arrange an initial session, I’d be happy to hear from you.
